We are a group of researchers from the Universiteit van Amsterdam, looking to make sense of the wave of data coming at us in the COVID-19 crisis. We are working on mining, combining, explaining and sharing data on COVID-19 and the movement of people.
We’re interested in the large number of changes generated by the policies, within and between international borders, and their effect on movement. We aim to produce questions and answers from research; including: How are these changes impacting mobility? How are they impacting differentially on populations and their rights? Are these new laws here to stay and how do we navigate our way back to the ‘relatively’ free movement of the past?
We aim to explore these questions by establishing a data portal that A) Links readers to the vast and growing trove of data and visualisations on the crisis; B) Demonstrates what sorts of questions and answers emerge from the data; and C) Building a community of researchers around these common questions.
